Since 2005, the City of Mineola holds an annual Mineola NatureFest at the Mineola Nature Preserve. They have invited The Creature Teacher for the last 3 years to give several presentations to the NatureFest patrons. But they also have other exciting exhibits, hikes and activities including nature walks by Dr. Neil Ford of University of Texas at Tyler, The Turtle Lady, The Butterfly Guy, Kids Fishing and Kite Flying, Nature Photograpy by Gary Edwards, Tree Identification Hike, Face Painting, Build Your Own Birdhouse and much, much more. This years event was held over Memorial Day Weekend and included a Chuck Wagon Dinner and Cowboy Campfire as well Storytellers and a look at the stars on Friday night with East Texas Astronomers. It is truly fun for the whole family.

In 2009, The Creature Teacher presented two shows, Creatures of the World and Creepy and Slimy. Animals included in those shows were a Milk Snake, Rose-Haired Tarantula, Barred Tiger Salamander, Chinchilla, Senegal Parrot and Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches just to name a few. In 2010, we again presented two shows, Around the Neighborhood and Deadly Defenses. In Around the Neighborhood we talked about animals native to Texas and in Deadly Defenses we talked about the many methods animals use to defend themselfes including scare tactics, looking bigger, using armor, palying dead and chemical defenses. The shows are held underneath the preserves large covered pavillon with benches so guests can relax and be comfortable. For more information go to www.mineola.com.
