A little about us!
Belinda Henry, Owner
The Creature Teacher has been educating children of all ages for 15 years. We hold over 400 shows each year at various libraries, schools, private parties, and scouting events.
In October 2010, the original owner and founder, Robyn Wheeler, retired from animal education in order to further pursue a writing career. The new owner, Belinda Henry, is a former educator. Belinda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and spent 15 years in the medical profession before entering the education field. Belinda spent several years as a homeschool mom to her three children before returning to full time instruction. Recently, she served as the Nature Center Coordinator at Sky Ranch Christian Camps in Van, TX as well as an educator in their Outdoor Education Program.
Belinda and her family are avid animal lovers that hope to share their appreciation for these incredible animals and the positive influence they have on the environment around us.
Jon Bjornen, Special Programs Director, Instructor
Jon is originally from the small town of Hilo in the state of Hawaii. Growing up close to the ocean most of his life Jon
has a love and passion for marine life, and enjoys getting the opportunity to educate others about the ocean. Jon studied at the University of Hawaii at Hilo earning a Bachelors in Marine Science, and has worked as a volunteer with NOAA, the Hawaii Marine Mammal Response Network, and the Pacific Aquaculture and Coastal Resource Center. Jon has enjoyed getting to know all of our animals at The Creature Teacher and his favorite is Thor, our Colombian Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor. Jon loves being a part of The Creature Teacher and having the opportunity to educate kids on the importance of all animals and what makes them unique and amazing. Jon currently lives in Fort Worth along with his wife Amanda, their son Kioni, and their cat Pua.
Jon does all of our squid dissection and Creature Of the Sea programs. Imagine having a real Marine Biologist come to your school to teach about the ocean creatures!
Make sure and tell him “Aloha” when you see him!!
Kory Henry M. Ed, Instructor
Kory, aka Belinda’s husband, is also one of our awesome instructors. Kory received his Bachelors of Business Administration at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he grew up. After moving to the Dallas area, Kory went on to get his Master’s of Education from Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. Kory has been a basketball coach and a teacher for a number of years. He just recently received his Principal Certification. Kory is in charge of our research and curriculum development. He keeps us all on track so that our programs are educational and mentally stimulating for the students!
His passion for kids and animals is tremendous. He’s quite a great husband also. He never flinched when his wife walked in the door 3 years ago carrying a joey kangaroo and asked, “Can we keep him?” He still pops a bag of popcorn every night for himself and the kangaroos to share before bedtime. What an amazing guy!!

Our Teaching Philosophy
Although our teaching techniques may vary from each other, our beliefs do not. We, in The Creature Teacher organization, all know that the animals we teach about were created with a purpose by God. While we understand that opinions may vary, and we respect views different from our own, we will not teach evolution. Unless we are given specific permission, we ONLY share our knowledge of the animals, not our beliefs in the way they are created.
