African Burrowing Bullfrog

African Burrowing Bullfrog

African Burrowing Bullfrog

Great for all ages

This species is one of the largest frogs on earth.  They are native to the sub-Saharan region and can survive hot dry periods by estivation (a type of hibernation). These giants have voracious appetites and can grow as large as a dinner plate.  They fill their bodies with air to look more intimidating.

The African burrowing bullfrog is a mild mannered frog, but is one of the only three species that have teeth. They love eating bugs, worms, fish, and small rodents.

*Fun fact: these frogs use their eyeballs to help push their food down their stomachs.
