Chinchilla

Great for all ages, but are fragile. Assistance will be needed for younger kiddos.

Cannot tolerate the heat, so indoor programs only!

These small rodents are covered in very dense, extremely soft fur.  They are native to South America (Andes Mountains). These quick moving animals are nocturnal so only run around after the sun goes down.  They love to eat grasses and seeds.

*Fun fact: chinchillas cannot let their fur get wet, so they take a bath in volcanic ashes.
