Sugar Glider
Best for ages 5 and up
Sugar gliders are a palm sized mammal that is native to Australia. Although they have some similar characteristics to flying squirrels, they are not even related. Sugar gliders are marsupials, meaning the females carry their babies in a pouch. They can glide, using the flaps of skin under their arms.
This nocturnal animal loves insects, rodents, and sweet fruit.
Although these animals are absolutely adorable, they do have a mouth full of sharp teeth. Younger children will not be able to hold or touch.
*Fun fact: they are the size of a grain or rice when they are born.
